05.30.2025 - Our thanks to all of you who have patiently updated your card information and received our new 14-digit cards! We are working our way through this process very deliberately and learning as we go.
There are no further developments in the pending State Legislation, so we are confident that we are moving in the correct direction to remain compliant with new pending state law. I know this is a shift for many of you, with having to sign consent to allow others to borrow on your cards, and for children to no longer be allowed to possess their own cards. Whether we agree or disagree about the new requirements and law, we have no choice but to meet the compliance standards.

In other news, (and another reason we are migrating to 14-digit cards) I'm very excited to announce that we will be migrating over to a new circulation system. What will this mean for you, our patrons?
Weeks Public Library currently uses Atriuum, and we will be migrating to Koha. The Koha system is considered to be significantly more user-friendly, easier to search for materials, and much more customizable for our community.

If anyone wants a preview of the Koha catalog, you can look at the library catalogs at Wiggin Memorial Library, Portsmouth Public Library, Rye Library, or Hampton Library. a paragraph. When will you see changes? We are planning on an October 2025 migration. I know it seems like a long way off, but there is a huge amount of planning involved to make this as seamless as possible for us and you. Stay tuned for more info!
UPDATE - 05.08.2025 SB 141-FN - Representative Alexander did a floor amendment to SB 141 to add in the wording from 666 about expanding library cards and membership to RSA 201 D:11 today. There is no penalty portion.

We will be implementing an Informed Consent for all individuals that share a Library Card - this includes parents, children, babysitters, au pairs, grandparents, spouses and others in order to maintain compliance with the amended RSA 201 D:11.
